Wear the coolest images in the cosmos, straight from the source! This JWST image includes observations of the star WR 124 from NIRCam & MIRI. WR 124 is a massive star nearing the end of its short and explosive life, shedding its outer layers to create the glowing nebula around it, which is 10 light-years across. Wolf-Rayet stars are named for the French astronomers who discovered the first examples in the 1860s. WR 124 is 15,000 light-years away in the constellation of Sagitta, the arrow.
