Honor the legacy of teacher and astronaut Sharon Christa McAuliffe, the first American civilian selected to travel to space. The scarf depicts Christa on a zero-gravity training flight in January 1986, shortly before the launch of STS 51-L, when the Space Shuttle Challenger and its crew were lost shortly after take off. Christa's mission was fulfilled by educator-astronauts Joe Acaba and Ricky Arnold over 30 years later, when they filmed the classroom lesson she had prepared during their mission on the International Space Station.
Scarf is 80 by 28 inches, made from a soft, lightweight blend of 98% modal and 2% cashmere. Designed in Brooklyn, NY, USA and made in Italy.
