Commemorate a technological marvel enshrined in organic simplicity with this sophisticated necklace! A new window to studying the Universe opened when scientists at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) discovered the first gravitational waves, ripples in the actual fabric of spacetime that are produced by collisions of massive, compact objects. This laser-cut wood pendant features the actual signal (etched) and model signal (cutout) from the GW150914 event, produced by the collision of two ~30-solar mass black holes over a billion light-years from Earth.
Each design is laser-cut on 1/8-inch-thick cherry wood, which may feature variations in grain. The pendant is approximately 4 inches wide and 0.75 inches tall on an 18 inch silver-plated chain. Avoid contact with water, lotion, perfumes, soap, and other liquids. Handmade in Paris, France.
